Peru. 1813-JP 8 reales. Lima mint. Ferdinand VII. AU-58 (PCGS). A textbook example of what an AU-58 should be: a high eye appeal coin just a whisper of wear away from Choice Mint State. The surfaces are frosty, the cartwheel is impressive on both sides, and the toning includes a panoply of pastel blue, gold, and orange-red. A glass picks up some very minor scattered contact marks, but nothing serious. The strike is complete, with no central softness. A really beautiful example of this type, one that would have been familiar to folks throughout North America (and the rest of the world) for decades after its mintage.
