Very Sharp (1577-88) Lima Two Reales of Diego de la Torre

Peru. (1577-88)-oD 2 reales. Lima mint. Diego de la Torre, assayer. Choice Extremely Fine. 6.73 grams. Nearly round, barely worn, and beautifully toned. Sharply struck, particularly at centers, with the mintmark and denomination clear to the left of the boldly defined shield and the assayer mark bold to the right. The surfaces are glossy, lively, deep olive gray with some hints of deep blue. A superb example of this very early Lima type, one hallmarked by its attractive and well-made coins.
