Mexico. 1653 P 8 reales. Mexico City Mint. Choice Very Fine. Philip IV. A handsome piece with ideal antique gray surfaces, glossy and attractive, free of corrosion or other post-minting issues. Some minor striking fissures are noted atop the reverse. The date, mintmark, and assayer initial are all complete and easily seen. The shield and cross are likewise well-defined. A good-looking representative of a type commonly seen in 17th and 18th century America, familiar to pirates and pastors alike.
