1864 Abraham Lincoln / Andrew Johnson campaign ferrotype. DeWitt AL 1864-96. Very Fine. Lincoln portrait 1, reproduced from a Matthew Brady photograph from February 1864. The shell is attractive and retains most of its lustre, and the original loop is present, intact, and unbent. The Lincoln portrait shows some emulsion losses but remains dark and bold. Johnson is missing a pretty substantial chunk of emulsion right of his portrait, but his image remains clear. Ferrotypes from the 1864 election are scarcer as a class than those from 1860. This is a highly collectible relic from one of our nation's most important and historic elections.
