Details

England. 1804 Bank of England dollar. Choice Very Fine. Overstruck on a Spanish-American eight reales of uncertain date and mint, with some evidence of the peripheral legends of the undertype seen on both sides. A very attractive example of this popular issue, denominated as both five shillings and "dollar." The surfaces are smooth glossy gray with a pleasing array of gold and rose undertones. Some lustre remains, only slight harmless hairlines noted under magnified scrutiny, no significant marks or flaws. Though all dated 1804, this issue was actually struck at Boulton and Watt's mint in Birmingham through 1815.
