Details

Spain. 1792-MF 1 escudo. Madrid mint. EF-40 (NGC). Carlos IV. Just an ideal little gold coin from the year the Philadelphia Mint first fired up its presses. A little worn, a little dirty, but problem free and very attractive. A glass picks up some minor circulation hairlines and a few little marks, but nothing serious. As of 1793, Federal law pegged the value of this piece at $1.90, but it could have easily passed at $2, in keeping with its value as two 8 reales coins.
