Pleasing CONNFC 1787 Connecticut, Ex. Col. Green-Eric P. Newman

SOLD

Ex Eric. P. Newman Collection. Earlier, from the estate of Col. E.H.R. Green via Burdette G. Johnson of St. Louis Stamp and Coin, ca. 1935.

Details

1787 Connecticut copper. Miller 43.1-Y. Rarity-2. CONNFC. Draped Bust Left. VG-10 (NGC). Glossy and smooth chocolate brown, very attractive and well-preserved for this grade level. One of the more interesting varieties in the Connecticut series, with the F punch from the Fugio coppers (produced at the same New Haven facility at the same time) mistakenly used in place of the E in CONNEC. This would make a nice association item for a collection of Fugios. Encapsulated in a souvenir special-label Eric P. Newman collection NGC slab which notes its variety and its provenance back to the legendary Col. E.H.R. Green. This piece is also accompanied by its original envelope from Burdette G. Johnson, ca. 1935 (though its stated price of $2.50 is no longer valid).
