Lovely Choice EF 1787 Connecticut Copper Type Coin, ex. Eric Newman

Details

1787 Connecticut copper. Miller 33.15-r.1. Rarity-2. Draped Bust Left. EF-45 (PCGS). A perfect coin to represent the Connecticut copper type. Choice and glossy medium brown with no post-striking defects. A little natural closed lamination is noted right of the cinquefoil above the obverse portrait's head, but no marks or scratches are seen. The centering is perfect, with a nice full date. As often seen, the profile is a bit soft and some planchet texture is visible in the area, but in terms of actual wear this piece is very high grade. A light die clash is visible at the outer extremities of the obverse fields. This is a common variety, one to which no variety premium is assigned, making it a fine choice for the collector who seeks just one very nice Connecticut. From the Eric P. Newman Collection, offered with his ancient paper envelope and the modern auction ticket.
