Isles du Vent / Windward Islands. 1732-H 6 sols. La Rochelle Mint. VF-35 (PCGS). Exemplary deep gray with navy blue toning around design elements. Choice for the grade with excellent eye appeal and only a few light, scattered marks. This type has been found in North America more than you might think considering how scarce it is, turning up in Virginia, Maryland, and Rhode Island to my knowledge, though I suspect their circulation was even more widespread than that. These were even cut for small change in early America. There are exactly four silver 18th century issues of the Isles du Vent: 6 sols and 12 sols struck in 1731 and 1732. The 1732-dated issues are far rarer than the 1731-dated ones, and the 1732 6 sols seems to be the rarest of the whole quartet. Looking at recent auctions here and abroad reveals no 1732-H 6 sols offered in any grade; this is the only one certified by PCGS. This would be tough to replace.
