Details

Spain. 1721 F two reales or "pistareen." Segovia mint. MS-61 (NGC). Deep smoky gray with intermingled deep amber and hints of blue and violet. Crisp and well-detailed, frosty and somewhat lustrous, a handsome example of the single most common small silver denomination in 18th century America. Some light marks and abrasions are seen under a glass, little natural struck-through under H of HISPANIARUM, no bad flaws. This is as iconic and important a type as the Spanish Milled dollar and the English halfpenny.
